SYNOPSIS OF COMIC BOOK: Page
1-In a preview of what to expect in the story. A giantess human
named June is looming over scientist about to grab them. The scientist
claim she knows them and isn't supposed to be big and doesn't
seem to be herself in her giant state.
Page 4-
June starts to reach for the small scientist below not regongizing
them. She picks up two of them and goes to step on two others before
feeling dizzy looking as if she is going to fall much to the worry of
the two held in her hand that their lives could be in danger if she
falls.
Page 5-The
two scientist jump out of her hands splashing into a nearby pond as
June falls unconsious. The scientist wonder what caused her growth and
how they can fix it only to be interupted by a rumbling on the side of
the mountain . Through the sides of it emerges a huge lizard like
beast.
Page6-
A huge claw from the creature goes in to crush the Prof and Red.
The beast turns away when the two climb up to higher ground and seems
more interested in something else.
Page 7-
Ace and Rocky below start to throw rocks at it as the beast now goes
after the easier targets. The monster seems reluctant to follow
them through the pond as June awakens wondering what is going on.
Page 8
- June lifts her friends up feeling a bit better now. She has no idea
what the beast that attacked was but stands up to see if she can see
where it went to. It seems to be heading to a near by village. June
decides that she will decoy it into attacking her instead rather then
harm the village so the Challengers can stop it.
Page 9
- The beast is already in the village about to cause trouble as the
Challengers fire on it with missiles having no effect. They get out of
the plane only to be in for more then they can handle about to be
crushed. June shows up in the nick of time to grab the beast by the
horns and to pull it back.
Page 10-
The giantess June continues to battle with thebeast while the
Challengers get an idea and go the the fire station to get a fire truck
to combat it. The monster is able to over take June as she falls to the
ground.
Page 11-
The Challengers fire water from the fire truck at the beast angering it
and backing it away from the center of the town. The furious beast
knocks the fire truck over.
Page 12-
The Challengers hold it off with water as the beast suddenly starts to
shrink back down in size before them.
Page 13
- June also has returned to normal size but realizes it wasn't
the water that shrunk them. Just the potions effects wearing off. June
explains that the microbe is microscopic and can't be seen any longer
and that such a potion was a fluke to have created in the first place.
REVIEW OF
COMIC BOOK: Very silly and remisant of the old HB cartoons
from the 60's where it was a team of generic heroes beating up on weird
sci fi related monsters and villains. The comic book series is a
good example of the type of things that used to be done that we rarely
see anymore. Which I suppose isn't such a bad thing considering how
corny and just un creative some of the situations can be in these comic
books. But they are a lot of fun just because anything can and will
happen for no good reason and the dialog is quite dated and funny when
not intending to be.
This issue would probably more of intrest to macro fans
for the giantess human in it , over the would be monster. But since it
has a creature that fits the them of this page it belongs on here so it
shall be given the proper treatment it deserves. I always liked the
aspects of man (or in this case woman) vs. beast in giant battles over
some wildly populated area. Can't really put my finger on why, but just
the whole idea of it is interesting. Kind of mixes both aspects of
giant humans with macro furry so you sorta get a two for the price of
one deal here.
MEMORABLE QUOTES AND MOMENTS IN EPISODE:
(The beast is about to crush the four
challengers only to be stopped by June)
Rocky: "It's June! She got
here in the nick of time!"
Prof: "Yeah she stopped that collasal paw from crushing us."
*****************
(The microbe beast starts to
shrink as Red fires a water hose at it)
Red: "Wait a
minute! Something is happening to it! It..it's.. getting smaller ! Like
a dollar shirt!"

FINAL NOTES:
*Challegers of the Unknown was drawn by Comic Book legend Jack Kirby who was famous for his various old time science fiction comic book cover art in golden aged comic books. The comic book series would go through many writers and revivals throughout the years but mostly focused around four would be male adventurers and their female scientist friend June.
Factual --- If June who is
about 5 feet in size grew to 50 feet by the effects of the formula,
then there is no way that the microscopic beast should have grown to be
the same size. Each should have grown in a ratio compared to their
previous size before the effects took place meaning the microbe beast
shouldn't have been very big at all even if it was hit with the growth
formula.
Factual --- A formula that made
June grow in size wouldn't have made her clothing grow in size.
They show her clothing as having been ripped due to her size change but
besides the few rips here and there her clothing seems to be properly
sized for her which is not possible to be the case as her clothing
wouldn't have grown with her via the way this potion worked.
+ :A strange and different
type of macro creature
that you won't find in many places. Has something for both giant human
and macro furry fans. Fun adventure that doesn't seem to be done any
more in comics or cartoons.
-
:Some of the lines are very corny and
dated. Hard to take this story seriously at all. Logic seems thrown out
the window at many points. Very cookie cutter type of story with the
heroes all being very generic and not unique in any way.
